Hi i’m Carla and I am an artist. I believe I am here to make beautiful pieces of art that are positive and colourful to inspire people to be happy and smile. I want to be able to make people’s imaginations come to life, helping people who aren’t maybe very creative to own the art they want and make their imaginations come to life.
I feel I’m able to bring out the best in people ,and I want to be able to show this through my work. I also work in a school, I love to inspire children to be creative and be confident to be who they want to be and be as creative as they can through positivity and Art
MY GIFT
I am a hugely versatile artist. I can create ANY style of painting or drawing. I can make things in 3d in any medium, jewellery, costume design, props, stage design, window art, cake toppers..the list is endless.
I feel there are no limitations to my creativity. I can literally turn my hand to anything, I can make bespoke custom pieces of art; working creatively with clients to bring their ideas and imagination to life. I am a positive cheerful person and I feel that this reflects in my approach to my work. I feel so lucky to have this gift.
THE JOY OF APPRECIATING WHAT I DO
I am a hard working honest person, who is extremely observant, I notice the little things, and this applies in my work, I’m a perfectionist!
I take care to make sure every detail is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I love to see the look on peoples faces when they see the level of commitment I have to what I do, and the subsequent results.
My versatility does not dilute the standard of my completed works, I feel it only compliments the standard of my art, and helps me to express myself freely in any medium. I love to empower people and make them feel like they can create the art they know they can.
I am good at inspiring people and can create a busy creative buzz in a classroom or workshop environment. I am keen to share techniques and ideas. I really feel the Art world can be quite cliquey and my aim is to try and break those barriers down and include as many people in Art as I can. Everyone has an inner artist hiding away!
MY PASSION EMERGING
I have ALWAYS drawn and had a colouring pencil in my hand. I can remember always being keen to sit down and get my ‘Art on’ from a very early age. My mum is always producing little drawing and keep sakes I made for her, and my other family members from a very young age.
It was always something I used to express love or cheer someone up. In School I had no real direction, and my parents weren’t the pushy types, they taught me to work hard though, and let me be free with my choices which now looking back was a real luxury. So I had the choice of what I wanted to do. My Careers Advisor in school asked me, what I’d like to do? I said I don’t know? He said what do you love doing? And without hesitation I said Art, he gave me the names of courses and I applied and got on.
I studied art for 6 years. They were great years of learning and exploration. After I finished University however, I left Art behind. I think I had found it to be cliquey, and a tad pretentious and I’m not about that at all. I feel ART IS FOR ALL.
I went on to work in a Bank and then a few other jobs that weren’t me (this went on for about 10 years), but there was always that want in me to get back to my heart and make art!!
When I started working as a Special Needs Classroom Assistant I started being able to produce art for the classroom and to help out with art classes as well. I was getting back to my heart.
FINALLY.. I have gradually started to make pieces of art for people who have asked me to make things for them or paint murals and to beginning living my passion.
I am so happy that I am able to finally use my talents, it has been such a long journey. I really feel that I’m only just beginning to get somewhere, I’m only just getting started. My aim is to do a lot more murals and window painting and portraits. I really want to start my own Business providing Art Parties for children, and producing bespoke pieces of art. I am looking forward to the next chapter of my journey……..
