BRINGING AROMATHERAPY INTO YOUR DAILY RITUAL
I have been using aromatherapy for years and absolutely believe in the massive effects it can have on your wellbeing. I come from a long line of “wild women” who have always grown and used herbs and plants to support their wellbeing. My grandmother would grow herbs and plants on her allotment, and make medicines and potions for her family and neighbours. My mum has used aromatherapy oils to support pain from arthritis, and after operations; she is unable to take pain relief medication and has used self massage for years to manage her pain. I have also used the recipes in the E Book at the Women’s Centre. We made oils and sprays, scrubs and oatmeal bath soaks; the place smelt amazing, and the women loved the products!
Plant essences have been used for thousands of years in various ways; over recent years there has been an increase in interest in seeking alternative routes to wellbeing, including aromatherapy and natural medicine.
Most women’s experience of aromatherapy is linked to having relaxing massages; purchasing massage oils, sprays and perfumes, along with burning oils at home to fill spaces with beautiful aromas.
Using essential oils however doesn’t just have to be about alleviating stress and tension; bringing aromatherapy into your daily routine supports the ongoing wellbeing of the mind including happiness and positivity, confidence, assertiveness and creativity. A drop of bergamot on a tissue and a deep inhalation before an interview can really help keep you focused, essential oils can really help to facilitate balance of your emotions.
