A truly inspirational back drop for our Retreat, and an area that claims to have inspired author J.R.R. Tolkien, who regularly stayed at Stonyhurst College in the Ribble Valley. A number of names which occur in ‘The Lord of The Rings’ are similar to those found locally including Shire Lane (in Hurst Green) and River Shirebourn (similar to the family name which built Stonyhurst).

Woodland Rooms
Accommodating a maximum of 15 guests, with single occupancy, the luxurious 36 sq.m Woodland Bedrooms offer fantastic countryside views within moments from the SPA. A walk-in shower and separate double ended bath also features in each room. The rural theme is reflected throughout the interior design providing a seamless transition from outside to inside.
Our Learning Space
Stanley House has beautifully presented spaces all equipped with air conditioning, wifi, and the added benefit of full natural daylight. Plus fabulous terraces and communal rooms for eating and gathering. For our Retreat we will be using the Stables and Lodge spaces. Read More
Combined they offer us a space from where we can gather to learn, and a space from where we can reflect, share, and for some of the time eat fabulous food, lovingly prepared by the amazing Stanley House Master Chefs. We will also make full use of the beautiful outside space, the fabulous Spa and the Restaurants.
