At a time when women all around the world are rising, recognising the sacred feminine nature of the universe, rituals are a daily practice many are using to cultivate a relationship with the goddess and feel her energy within. Rituals have been practiced for thousands of years always including mother and fertility goddesses, as well as goddesses of love, compassion and wisdom.
Rituals can help:
- reduce feelings of stress, fear and anxiety
- you feel a sense of purpose and hope
- connect with a part of you that you rarely connect with due to the “noise” in your life
- you gain wisdom and insight in your life
RITUAL WITH SEDNA – THE RITUAL-EMERGING – THE SEARCH FOR SELF
Sedna is an Inuit Sea Goddess who rules over the oceans and provides sustenance for the body and soul- “you are supplied for today and all of your tomorrows”. She is a wonderful goddess to invoke during your emerging journey; a transitional time of journeying from the darkness into your true light, of discovering and bringing back your feminine voice, of rising. She can help you to discover what it is you are seeking and why. The key is to create balance in your life. If you only give, you will feel drained, resentful, and experience lack. If you only receive, you will not enjoy what you have. Balance comes from fearlessly giving as you are guided, and then receiving with joy and gratitude.
What you will need:
- Candles
- Relaxing music – whale/sea song- I have put a list on Spotify you can access free here
- Journal and a pen
This ritual will take a few sessions to complete; it is best to commit doing this when you know you can do it for a few consecutive days/evenings
- Create a beautiful relaxing space with candles; aromas and anything you love that enables you to feel peaceful.
- Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Concentrate on your breath going in and out, and your chest rising and falling. Let any tension slip away. Allow yourself to be in this beautiful peaceful space.
- Now put on the playlist or play music that has sounds of the sea, whale noise etc. Now invoke Sedna by saying ” As I embark on my emerging journey what am I seeking and why?”
- Over the course of several days draw a whale; it could be a single whale, or a group of whales; it could be in the distance or up close- go with whatever you feel. Allow your creativity to flow; this isn’t about being an artist. You may like to use stickers; glitter etc to embellish your design- allow your goddess to play!
- As you create the whale and listen to the music, meditate on what you have drawn- just simply close your eyes and allow your breath …. what am I seeking, and why? …….. Whatever comes up for you write it in your journal. Things may also come up on the days following and even weeks after doing this; write everything down- it’s so interesting how things make sense weeks and even months after.
- I find this a wonderful way of journaling; you can allow your creativity to draw whatever comes up for you too; I often end up drawing huge suns that end up like Mandala’s. Which is so strange as Ali Parks who created my brand never knew this, and she created the one at the foot of this page!
- It is important that you make these rituals your own; you can never do anything wrong- just go with the flow and allow your inner goddess to shine.
Happy Discovering
